how to enjoy wedding planning with self-care
Wedding Planning can bring about many stressors. Wanting the day to go perfectly can bring on some anxiety. No worries; as a Certified Wedding Planner with many professional friends, I’m a wealth of resources. Helping you relax, enjoy and get ready for one of the happiest days of your lives is my goal. To set you on the right path, I reached out to Dr. Cindy Bautista Thomas to give some expert advice on self-care during the wedding planning process and life. Read on to learn what she had to say.
What does self-care mean to you?
Self-care means engaging in regular activities that prioritize and enhance your mind, body and spirit (or soul) wellness. Self-care is also setting appropriate boundaries to ensure that you are centering your wellness.
Share an indicator that a couple may be neglecting their self-care
When couples get so deep in planning, they start to feel extreme fatigue, physically or mentally, chances are they are neglecting their self-care. When they do things for everyone else and find themselves overwhelmed and no longer wanting to do the things they enjoy doing, they are likely not prioritizing their self-care.
What strategy and what resource would you recommend for engaged couples?
I would recommend journaling about their feelings. Journaling is a form of self-care that can take merely a few minutes a day to document how you relate to yourself and the world. It is an opportunity to articulate your wins as well as your disappointments. Our Podcast is a good starting resource – Self-Care to Success in 15 Minutes or Less Podcast.
