Commenting on the fashion of Joe Biden’s inauguration, Birmingham City University fashion lecturer Laura Arrowsmith, said:

“As always Michelle Obama championed emerging American labels and black designers, a true advocate for her country. Wearing a head to toe burgundy ensemble consisting of wide leg trousers, turtle neck and long coat, Michelle oozed elegance and compassion in her chosen attire.

“A consistent trend we have seen throughout Biden’s inauguration are the women dressing monochromatically, with some even colour coordinating the must-have outfit staple – the face mask.

“Talented poet Amanda Gorman brightened up everyone’s day with not only her poetic words but also her yellow Prada coat and red bejeweled face mask which was no doubt the most interesting and glamourous face covering of the day.”
