I really want to save women from the struggle of being a lifetime employees while raising a family. You see, I spent over half my life working at a job for 37 years, before I could free myself. No one told me at a young age what I’m about to tell you. You will work a job for over 30 years and retire broke, broken down and living in poverty, if you don’t have your own plan.
When I started my career at 23, as a Medical Laboratory Tech at one of the major hospitals in my city, I loved my job. I would count the hours until it was time to go in and enjoy the ride while singing all the way to work. I was so happy to have that job. People would ask me “Do you still work at the hospital?” My answer was, “Yes! They’ll have to throw me out. I’m never leaving.” At 23 you don’t always think about the future, you live in the now. Well, I closed my eyes and woke up 40 closed my eyes and woke up 50 still at the same job and starting to feel like there maybe something else and i didn’t belong there. I sold vacuum cleaners for a while, then home interiors and gifts. I did well, but not enough to walk away.
I closed my eyes and woke up 55 ; still working at that job. You see, sometimes you think you have all the time in the world, but you don’t really.Time can help you fool you and hurt you. My husband is 5 years older than me, so I began to think about how to invest more for his retirement, since we were accustomed to a certain income, but I didn’t think about me. You see, women are born nurturers and we put everyone else first. My daughter, which is the middle child and very independent, started investing in rental properties and I saw her success. I decided to buy a few rental properties to have extra income,so my husband and I could live like we were accustomed to after HIS retirement.
Things at my job started to get bad. Hospitals are no different than other jobs. They want you to do more and more with less people. I didn’t agree because people’s lives were in our hands. But that’s another article I need to write. So justI needed to get out of there. I was no longer happy on my way to work. I left work exhausted and barely able to walk after my ride home from running around in circles in a small area at work for 10 hours. I would pray“Lord what am I supposed to be doing? What is my purpose? I looked around while at work and thought to myself, “I don’t belong here. I’m different now but am I crazy or are they crazy?”
In my opinion everyone at the job i was being brain washed by supervisors and management to be overworked and underpaid and be happy about. I can’t fault them, management was also under the same spell by their superiors. Well, I was tired of being bent over so to speak. Seniority doesn’t mean a thing these days in the workplace and it was time for me to go. After working for a company 37 years, the job wasn’t loyal to anyone but themselves. I was selling health juices, body garments, built and rebuilt teams of 500 plus people in a second job. I helped make another company rich also.We as women are not afraid to work 2 and 3 jobs. I even became certified as a health, life and business coach. But you see, having titles don’t always make you money.
People would say, “You need a coach,” and I would say, “I’m broke. I know what I’m doing.” I had a broke mindset spending and wasting a lot of money on stuff. I was living paycheck to paycheck because of my mindset. I think it was 2015, a friend of mine, Bonita Smith, introduced me to the Wealthy Sisters Network (WSN). She said, “You should be a chapter president to grow your garment and health business.” That’s how I met my coach and founder of WSN, Dawniel Winningham. I had no idea this awesome woman was going to be the one to help me change my whole life and help me create a plan to walk away from my job two years later, March 3, 2017.
I knew she was special from the first time I met her in person. She wouldn’t take my “I don’t know” as an answer to her questions. I hired Dawniel as my business coach and took every class she offered and she continues to blow my hair back. “And that’s the truth” as she always says.
As I was trying all of these different business ventures, I never realized that I had been a successful real estate investor since 2008.it was second nature to me. That was my gifted purpose. All I had to do was build my business around what I already knew how to do. So now I help other women get over the fear and have courage to pull the trigger be successful in real estate investing.
Even though you have a talent, it’s mandatory to have the right coach. My Coach always says, “If you could have done it on your own, you would have already done it.” I thank God for having a job all those years and he must have some reason for me to have stayed so long. I always say that if I left before meeting coach, I may have gone back and settled for a job. My motto is “It’s never too late to design your own life.”
WHY WOMEN GET LEFT BEHIND IN REAL ESTATE
Women only own 1% of the world’s land but we do two-thirds of the work. Women hold up 50% of the sky and only get paid through November and men get paid through the end of the year. There is a big difference in our pay. Women CEO’s in big companies work 3 times harder than their counter parts just for equal pay, while someone else is raising and spending time with her family.
Most women think real estate is a man’s work. Real estate investing doesn’t require muscles, it just requires knowledge and action. James Brown, the Godfather of Soul wrote a song that says; “It’s a man’s world but wouldn’t be nothing without a woman or a girl.” I say; “It’s a womans world because without women there would be no men or boys ..women have been programmed by society to work a 9 to 5.
We are born naturally to nurture, we are also the caregivers of everything and everybody. We are the cooks, housekeepers, chauffeurs, personal shoppers, tutors and more in our own houses and others. We are caregivers to our parents. Women are underpaid and overworked. Women are the first to take time off from work and lose income to take care of loved ones. Most women think real estate investing is out of their realm. The women that have stepped out of their comfort zone have made millions in real estate investing. There are lots of real estate agents and brokers that make money and work very hard, but that’s active income. Women real estate investors make PASSIVE streams of income while taking care everything else in their life. Real estate agents that are investors also do very well but you don’t need a real estate license to be an investor. It’s time for women to own their own land, create wealth and leave a legacy for their families.Real Estate Investing is the quickest way to become a millionairess.
“Buying real estate is not only the best way, the quickest way, and the safest way, but the only way to become wealthy.” ~ Marshall Field, Entrepreneur
