Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R) signs new Executive OrderToday at the GEDC of Englewood, Chicago, Illinois Governor Bruce Rauner (R) signs a new Executive Order to “ensure respresentative contracting in State procurement”. Governor Rauner and his task force members, including Chicago Mayoral Candidate Mr. Willie Wilson, shared the importance of creating equal procurement opportunities for Black Business Owners. According to Governor Rauner, this Executive Order will, “…change the face of economic growth”. It is the task force’s job to ensure accountability within the state procurement process. According to recent task force research data, Cook County has the highest number of Black Business owners in the state and make up of 9% of Illinois business owners, whereas only .06% of all Illinois State procurement contracts awarded to these Black Businesses.
